- Employer Relationships: PMI’s long-term relationship with regional and national maritime employers means that we can help students with the application process and keep them up-to-date on employment opportunities. As a member of the Pacific Coast Labor/Management Consortium and Ship Operations Cooperative Program, PMI is actively involved in the development and delivery of training programs required by the maritime industry. That means that students get the training that employers recognize and respect.

Full Mission Simulation
PMI has a Full Mission Bridge Simulator and is currently offering visual simulation-based courses. Simulation will allow our students to receive the majority of practical assessments at our facility so the inconvenience of onboard assessments can be minimized. Training offered with the use of our simulator can be customized and classes involving the simulator are extraordinarily valuable for seafarers experience and knowledge.
Blind Bridge Simulation
PMI has been using Blind Bridge Simulators for the past 7 years. These simulators drive our ARPA and ECDIS equipment and provide a realistic, real time environment to learn equipment operation and application in underway scenarios. VHF communications and use of actual ARPA from Furuno, Sperry, Raytheon and Decca provide a wide range of experience for our students.
Browse by Individual Courses
In addition to Vocational Programs, such as our AB to Mate, Chief Mate to Master, and Mate 500-1600 Tons programs, PMI continues to offer individual courses for mariners. Our individual courses are offered for those mariners wishing to either renew or upgrade their licenses. While some of these courses are offered within one or more of our programs, we still offer them on an individual basis and they are on the schedule regularly.
