Standards of Training
We appreciate your patronage and look forward to responding to your career needs. Pacific Maritime Institute (PMI) is a non-profit continuing education center for professional mariners. Our school is licensed under Chapter 28.C10 RCW as a Washington State Vocational Training Provider. This means that law requires us to follow the policies mandated by the Workforce Training, Education and Coordinating Board’s State approving agency. Be aware, some organizations offering “Captain’s” courses are not licensed as private vocational schools and therefore are not covered by the state of Washington’s Tuition Recovery Fund. This fund protects the consumer by guaranteeing tuition reimbursement should the school close or fail to meet its obligations. Washington’s Eligible Training Provider’s List can be viewed at Washington State’s Training Education and Coordinating Board’s website at www.wtb.gov.
The Veteran's Affairs has approved our school for G.I. Bill funding for our vocational programs. Please call to inquire further.
We are dedicated to offering superior standards of training. The standards set by State and Federal Regulations through the above agencies we are affiliated with show our commitment to this goal. Per these requirements each individual student must fill out, sign and date a Registration Form and an Enrollment Agreement, which the school must also sign and date.
It is the responsibility and goal of the Pacific Maritime Institute (PMI) to provide our students with detailed and specific information regarding the school. If you have any questions regarding our policies after having read our Enrollment Agreement, please do not hesitate to call. Our Enrollment Agreement follows requirements set by the WTECB.
